General Close call!!!

So we have just dragged the 500 to Newquay behind the motorhome to which it performed pretty good considering the rushed 650 transplant just prior. whilst we were down there for some reason the end off the wind hook snapped off to which "I'll just order a new one when I get home" was the stance taken.....


So we get home Saturday and unhook the car from the Motor Home and park him on the drive...…..


Mrs W decides to take the teenager to work in him yesterday and driving down the road the inevitable happened! yes the bonnet was not shut properly and it decided to shape itself up around the windscreen much to the brown pant situation of Mrs W and the child beast...…..


Thank fully no further harm or incident occurred...…


Car is now off the road until new parts arrive......

Sadly, not an previously unheard of event! That is why a lot of 500s have the rubber 'bungies' on the bonnet.Relieved to hear that all the car's occupants were unharmed, if a change of underwear come into that category.

You have the opportunity to say "ohhh you must have been going too fast ... that was the emergency Wind Brake.. it automatically deploys when you exceed a speed limit.... Make sure you don't drive so fast again..."

SCARY! I've often wondered if that might happen to me some day.
It's a fate that befalls the mini owners too, with the similar style bonnet catches. The leather belt buckle style fasteners are quite catchy when people go for that option

Had it happen to me too in my 1275GT....ripped the hinges through the bulk head!!!!…..I suspect that I was going faster than my wife was though in the 500...…..


Must order a windcatch soon (unless anyone has one lying around for sale)
