When I was looking to replace my 100Hp with an Abarth I was absolute sure it had to have xenon and climate control (and campovolo grey with leather interior).
Last year it failed APK (dutch MOT) on a missing linkage on the front heightsensor for the xenons. Garage told me it was the sensor, so that's what I ordered (€10 AliExpress), but after taking the left front wheel off it turned out to be the linkage. So ordered and delivered just one day before APK expired.
This year the car failed because the heater did not blow to the windscreen. It has been the same for four years but never a failure.
Why didn't I repair it earlier you ask?
Well a few years ago we repaired the climate control on my son in laws Bravo. Took me and my son 3 days and was an absolute nightmare.
Lucky for me a 500 (and even my Abarth) is a lot simpler.
Of course you need to dismantle the complete center console.
Start with the panels in both footwells. Then take out the rubber thingies in the cupholders (vacuumcleaner works best) and loosen 4 10 mm nuts. The forth lives under the handbrake lever.
Take of the cc surround. Lift up the gearlever bezel. Loosen two philips screws for the gearstick surround. And last 4 torx screws holding the big round piece with the compartment in it.
The offending servo lives on the left side above the kneeairbag (LHD). You have to be really flexible to reach the 2 5,5 mm bolts to change the servo.
Afterwards press "auto" and "max defrost" together and the reset proces starts.
All that you have to do now is rebuilding the complete console in reverse order.
Have fun!
