Technical Clicking on starting

Hi there,

My punto (oh what a fun car it is) has developed a new problem.

On turning the key to start the car I wait for the fuel injector light and key light to go out and they do.

i then turn the key to start the car and get a clicking noise, fine I though it my starter motor gone caput, but on the second turn of the key the engine fires into life no problem.

Is my starter motor on its last legs?

Possibly, could it be the ignition mechanism? They do wear after time (mk1). Mileage?

starter is dying, or battery a little flat on the firt try it will warm battery up so it has a bit more power on secound go, bit most lickly starter motor, theres plenty around in scrappies now
