Spent half the day on the phone yesterday trying to sort out the insurance renewal for Dad's Selecta.

As it only does about 2000miles a year now I though we'd stick it on a classic policy. Well what a headache this has turned out to be.

Not one company I called classed the Panda as a Classic, either has to be 20 years old (nearly 18 at the mo) or on 'their list' :bang:

So has anyone else got a Panda on a classic policy?

I've currently got the best price of £140 and £480 with me as a named driver on a normal policy, but ideally want to get an agreed value of £1200 set-up on it.

Jon.

Try PD James http://www.peterjamesinsurance.co.uk/

I have the panda and the 500 on the same policy for £210 fully comp unlimited millage and breakdown cover, I also wanted to insure my selecta with them and they said it was too new (its only 12 months newer than the van) so I spoke to one of their reps at the NEC who said they could insure it as a classic as its down to the body style rather than age - might be worth a go?

Jon.... We have always had classic ins. Usually about £120 fully comp, agreed value, full breakdown cover for both me and the mrs. Each panda added is about £25 extra.

Footman James classic multi car policy..(y) oh and in answer to your question...we have not sorted the booking..

I spoke to Footman James about insuring my Sisley when I first got it. They said they couldn't insure it on a classic policy for anyone under 25 as it is not over 30 years old and is not on their list, however they would insure it for someone over 25 on a classic policy but it still wouldn't be as cheap as a car over 30 or on the list.

I couldnt find anyone on Northern Ireland who could insure it as classic. Ended up puting it on my regular multicar policy for £113 for the remaining time of just over 6mths.

I could not find a company to offer agreed value unless it was garaged which mine isnt:(

Yes Peter James (y)

Had no problems with my Panda's but did need a separate valuation when one was under 20 years old to get the agreed value. Also no issue with garaging but that may be down to the area!

Have found them very helpful but did need to speak to Peter James himself to get the Coupe onto agreed value (that was only 11 years old though). Last Panda I added was £31 so no complaints over prices either. Worth a go at least.

They all mentioned to me it needs to be garaged if on a classic policy. Not that it bothers me much as that is the plan. Spent the last few months clearing the garage. Now just need to boot sale it all. Lol.
