Hi everyone
I have had my fiat 500 for some years now but have been plagued by n umerous break downs
The car will start well from cold but after 2 to 3 miles will cut out notably at junctions
It will not restart until you wait for about 10 to 15 minutes
It will then run fine for anther few miles but will then cut out again
I have changed
Coil
C b points
Condenser
Distributor cap
L t lead changed
Carb stripped and cleaned
Have also checked fuel tank which is clean and filter
Also fuel pump filter the same
It seem to happen when the engine is warm so can only think its heat related
Any help would be most appreciated
Andy

When it dies and before it cools off, check and see if you are getting a good blue spark to the plugs. That will help narrow down the possible culprits.

When the engine is warm and running, spray some carb cleaner or brake cleaner round the base of the carb. If the revs change then there is good chance that the bottomof the carb or/and the bakalite spacer is warped. This seems to be a not unusual problem. Both items can be flattened by carefully rubbling the items down to 'flat' using a sheet of wet-n-dry paper (preferably kept wet with some WD40,or similar) taped to something absolutely flat---like sheet of thick glass.

What Thomas said... I will try and take a picture of how warped the base plate can be as I have one, it is hard to believe that someone was running the engine..
on a flat surface it clearly rocks from side to side....
