i decide to put my car into the computer for a full diagnosis, and surprise!!!!
the immobiliser went dead!!! thats why the car doesnt start...
the garage told me that it needs to be reset so it could work with any key... £300 to fix it!!!!!
is there any other way?
thanks

i dont know nothing about cars.. do u think is easy to put the chip on the cinquecento or i have to take it to a garage?

its not as easy as just solderin a chip in custardthose jobs should be left to trained professionals i've been a fiat mechanic for nearly ten years ya just dont mess with ecu's particularly fiat ones

Yes you do. FIAT don't make or fix the damn things anyway. Plus, chances are (if you're lucky) it isn't a soldered in chip.

for the cost of a decoded ecu vs chipping an ecu its surely worth it?
how many 2nd hand ecus can you get for £300?

ye but then you are into control unit coding problems its worth doin it right and at least if some thin goes wrong you have some back with the company who did it for you (y)

Doing a chip swap should be doable by anyone with a bit of solder experience, and it is that easy lol.

While your in, if it was soldered to the board, fit a DIP socket so you can exchange it easily in the future :)

sounds easy until you drop some solder on to a resistor in the ecu and then it is brown bread trust time your better off saying away unless you know exactly what you are doin:bang:
