Technical Cinquecento Handbrake Cable Routing

Hi all,
I have a Cinq Sporting (1996), which I need to replace the handbrake cable on.
I'm suspicious that the current cable has not been routed correctly, and so don't want to recreate something that is incorrect.
It's the earlier style design, and so has a pulley.

Can someone please confirm whether the part of the cable with the threaded adjuster is routed to the nearside or offside?
