not every insurance compnay asks for previous, i know mine didnt, i know some do but with mine not asking for it i assumed others didnt either, however there could have been factors or a simple oversight as why i wasnt asked

Don't worry too much about your 1st insurance, it is the 2nd insurance after you tail gate someone and write off their car and you own, and need a new car and new insurance.

It only needs some oil, water or rubble marbles on the road, your braking distance goes out, and a little dink, if you have been to pub as well the plod may want some of your lolly, and all of your license.

Don't follow Ferraris they are expensive to write off.

Just wash your car and maintain it custom mods are for the rich.

i believe you go on a national database where it lists all of your previous convictions/claims etc and thats how they prove you've had no claims etc and why you cant lie about having no convictions/claims

well if you dont sit behind the wheel for x amount of time you arent claiming therefore building up no claims

What you are saying is if they were to type his name in that database then it would show up with no convictions or no claims, because he hasnt been behind a wheel since, but the database doesnt know that

you only get no claims if your on a policy as the policy holder (some do joint claims reward like direct line) you can have insurance for a year but never drive and get a year no claims bonus but just having a car wont build claim free years you must be on a policy as the policy holder :)

i was on my fathers for 2 years without a claim but i dont have any no claims as it was his policy so he got them, where as if i was the policy holder then i would have got them not him.

one last note for you to be the policy holder you must also own the car and the dvla must have you as the registered owner. same if you want your parents to put a policy on it they must be the policy holder with you as a named driver.

Thats only 100 miles a week. That is going to limit your options in 11 months time.

Cheers

Yes and no when you get to 5000 miles you need a new policy, or new shoes, if you have not had any claims they may be sympathetic about the next policy.

Do the internet thingy with all the comparison sites and the direct insurers. They advertise enough. Even try Asda and Tesco.

That, then take the cheapest quote and see if you can get anything back by taking it out via Quidco instead ;)

Also while age does make a difference the amount of time you have had your licence does too, my brother (18 months older) started driving at 25 and ended up paying more than I did when I started at 21, and he's doing less miles.

if you think your going to go over the miles youve set just give em a call and change it, your premiums might go up but atleast your guarenteed to be covered

on the database im sure it says your insurance record (no clams no convictionsetc) and would also say when you were last insured

im not saying this is for definite but im sure its true

They don't need a database, if you make a fraudulent claim or forget to tell them it is a non standard auto, e.g. if you buy it with non standard wheels/tyres, then after an accident they will investigate & will not pay out and the court will get you to pay back any damages on a weekly basis.

They send around and engineer to inspect the wreck...

So if you write of a Ferrarri and put the owner in a wheel chair you will be poor for ever and ever.

When you insure a Sei they think it is off the production line e.g. with homologated tyres, unless you tell them different, ditto steering wheel, etc.,...

I bought a cinq SX 0.9 as my first car when i was sixteen, and insured on the day of my 17th birthday as a learner for a little over £1200.

It was a minter with 70k on the clock and never went wrong, i paid £525 for it.

Then came this troublesome seicento, after one years no claims i paid 900 and something to insure it, and £660 to insure it in my third year.

I'd reccomend the cinq SX as a first car, because if you get nice metallic blue one they don't actually look that bad, and i'd take one anyday in order to stand out from the masses of puntos, corsas and saxos in the school car park.

Mine even came with remote central locking :p
