As some of you know, I a bit of a car wash freak albeit the car hasn't seen a good wash lately due to various other commitments.
After taking Gill an the girls to see Tangled at the cinema I got a few spare hours to clean the cinq. Just managed the exterior today, although missed the tyres. So here's what happened.
Gill bought me some nice new products for Valentines, so as the new dodo juice range is aimed at beginners, I thought why not go back to basics.
First of the new products, dodo juice basics of bling shampoo and wash pad. Followed by an I4D uber blue drying towel.
Car looked like this,
I mixed the shampoo 150:1 as I would with my normal shampoo. Using the two bucket method, I gave the car a quick rinse, then washed two panels before rinsing the pad and getting clean wash water for the next pair. TBH I wasn't as taken to this shampoo as the other three I have, will do as a back-up or for friends cars LOL
Next up was the wheels, for this I used another product that Gill bought me, Meguair's Wheel Brightener. Read great reviews about this stuff and have to say, it certainly didn't disappoint. The bottle has a measure on it to easily allow it to be diluted to 4:1.
The wheel brightener was applied to each wheel, given a minute to dwell then agitated with a Serious Performance detailing brush,
before
after
Following the wash and dry, the car looked like this,
As the paint work was pretty smooth, I went straight to the cleanser stage with some Serious Performance Paint Cleanser applies via microfibre pad and removed with several microfibre towels.
Following the paint cleanser, I decided for some reason to apply a coat of Serious Performance Show Detailer before applying a wax coat. This product brings a serious bling factor to the metallic. The nice thing about this is it's spray on and rub in with a fluffy microfibre.
Today's choice of wax was dodo juice light fantastic applied via foam pad,
Light Fantastic is a soft wax produced for light coloured cars, I expected the wax to be soft to touch, which it wasn't so not sure whether I've been storing it correctly and maybe it's hardened up. Any-ways, two layers of light fantastic were applied buffed of with several microfibres leaving the following,
Window's, mirrors and lights were cleaned using dodo juice's new Clearly Menthol glass cleaner. Great smear free clean, but not too impressed by the trigger nozzle, too small imo.
So there we have it, a nice wee clean of the cinq without using too many fancy products. Whilst I didn't miss the use of the power washer and snow foam, I do think it makes a good bit of difference.
