hi all,

does my '96 cinq sporting have a separate thermostat or is it an integral one that can't be changed?
Also had clutch cable renewed last wk & running rough since. Exhaust seems to be blowing at back pipe but no sign of damage. chugs along! Wants to move when in gear w/out gas - thinks its automatic. Any ideas whats wrong please?

there is a thermostat, its easy to replace, get yourself a haynes manual.

the clutch cable cant have caused the rough running but the garage may have not put things back togtehr correctly, add to that the high idle (which i assume is causing the automatic effect) and i think the most likley option is a vacuum leak due to a damaged or incorrectly refitted hose on the intake.

go back to the place that did the cable and tell them what has gone wrong since they touched it.

thermostat is round the side of the block under the coil packs.

as jug said the cable doesnt have anything to do with the engine running really. sounds like they dislodged a vaccum pipe working on it
