A clock lighting problem on my Cinq Sporting has just arisen, which I couldn't find reference to elsewhere. I hope someone can help, please!

The clock itself works, but the (new) bulb does not light, either in bright mode (no lights on), or dimmed (with lights).

At the same time, the cigar lighter illumination doesn't work either! And the lighting for the hazard warning, rear fog and hrw switches now comes with the ignition but no exterior lights (I don't think this is normal).

I guess there may be an earth problem (the fuses are ok), but before I spend possible hours testing, perhaps someone can point me in a specific direction.

Thanks!

So...

The clock lighting is now perfect. The problem was due to no connection between the contacts on the bulb and its holder, found with an ohmmeter. Maybe some internal part of the holder is missing. I had to really bend out the contact wires on the bulb to create the connection.

The cigar lighter bulb is now working - it needed a new bulb. A guide on how to do that and remove / refit the socket itself is being prepared.

I've now traced the fused feeds for the different switches and lights, it's confusing.

With reference to the Owner's Handbook for fuse numbering, on my car:
  • F4 feeds the hazard switch illumination led
  • F7 feeds the HRW and rear fog switch leds (it DOESN'T feed the rear wash/wipe as stated in the book, this is done by the same fuse as the front wash/wipe)
  • F11 feeds the other switches (electric windows, headlight adjustment), heater controls, clock dimmer and cigar lighter illumination
Why the hazards, HRW and rear fog switches should be fed from different fuses than the other switches, I have no idea... Does anyone else? :)
