Taking Punto sporting engine and putting it into Cinq racer. Is there any tips or hints I should know about when transplanting the loom from Punto to Cinq?
All help appreciated, thanks.

I'd do more research if I wasn't so busy building these little cars. Kid brother racing a sporting cinq, started life as standard 1108, progressed to 1242 8v with 866 cam and now we've decided to go with 16v engine. Racing against 106s, fiestas, corsas and starlets upto 1300cc on tarmac oval. Second overall in 2007, he should do it outright this year. Cheap fun, hopefully it'll be a little screamer.

This describes fitting an old style 16v 1242 with Megasquirt: there's something on ClubCento on the same lines using a standard ECU. This describes fitting one of the later SuperFIRE engines retaining the coil per cylinder and this fitting a SuperFIRE with wasted spark and an Emerald ECU. For your purposes, of course, you can treat the 1.4 and 1.2 SuperFIRE as the same. The SuperFIRE is said to be a tougher engine than the older 16v.

Sounds like fun! Please post some pics when you have time!

Hint about the punto loom?... Don't bother, the only technical stumbling block using the 1108 ECU wise is driving the MPI injectors. However if you're doing any work with the engine I'd recomend junking the stock ECU and going for an aftermarket option.

all you had to do was click 3 times from the FAQ's in your sig :nono:
then people can give constructive info when you have an idea what engine/set up your going with

Thanks for the suggestions, but does nobody do any work on their own cars anymore. Giving the ECU over to be remapped seems like an easy, if expensive, way out. I'll transplant the lot and see how it works out. Will put up a few pics of the end result.

If you are competing in the sub 1300 you might as well bore a 1242 out to 72mm and use the 1368 pistons, which should get you closer to the limit.

Alternativerly you can use a 1368 block and fit a 1242 crank with the 1368 pistons and conrods.
