I need to change my cigarette lighter but i can't figure out how to get the plastic panels from around the gearstick/handbrake off to get to it.
Any help would be appreciated.

thanks andy. i have already done that but it doesn't help me get the lighter out or the plastics off.

You'll have to start with getting the handbrake cover off, by pulling it upwards and giving it a little squeeze. That will then uncover four bolts to undo. You'll then need to undo some more bolts in each of the footwells.
Then you'll be able to pull the center plastic out by lifting the back up first, then pulling it backwards.

According to ePER, some GPs have the same cigarette lighter as the Stilo, in which case, you don't need to remove anything else to get it out.

Take the metal sleeve with it's wiring connector out first, then tilt the coloured light ring to get that out complete with the bulb and bulb holder. You need a small screwdriver between the top lip of the metal sleeve and the top of the light ring to lever the sleeve up. The two parts won't come out together.

Hi Davren,

The illumination of my cigarette lighter socket conked off yesterday. Was wondering what sorta bulb/LED gives the lighting. Also Can I just pull out the unit/pry it out or is it attached to any wires underneath. Or is it a contact based set up.

Thanks for your inputs in advance!

cheers
Matt

Noticed today that mines stopped working too, so what bulb would I need? And how easy is it to replace? Also does anyone know if you can change the colour? Thanks.

Thanks. Anyone know where you can get different coloured plastic?

i purchased 2 universal lighters from e-bay. a blue and a red. cannot decide which one to use. love them both. the red is sportier and more compatible with orange but the blue really differs.only replaced the plastic ring. couldn't get the lighter out and i almost broke it.
