Hey people,

i want to purchase a chrome line for my bonnet,

i havent got my 500 yet (still getting made :() but i was wondering are they easy to put on ??

or would you think its better to get a pro to do it ??

if anyone here has put it on themself could you share your experience and tell me if you had any difficulties

many thanks in advance Pan

It's very easy Pan - the strip comes with some very basic instructions, clarifying the distance from the top edge of the bonnet to the top of the chrome strip, and you can use your own judgement to make sure the thing's central. I used ordinary masking tape as a guide, and a tailor's tape measure to get around the curves at the bonnet sides. Make sure you're absolutely sure of the central point before sticking the line down though, as once it's stuck the only way you'll remove it is by damaging the self-adhesive tape. It really is easy though, so don't fret

I'm not posting pics to this site Pan - my car has some distictive features, plus some expensive upgrades, and I'm not too keen on showing them to the world's crooks online!

Now I'm quite security conscious so don't post pics of my plate online or post where I live online but what does it matter? If you post a pic of your car and it's got solid gold wheels someone's still got to track it down.....

As others have said it really is easy.

Couple of hints/tips though, having done these on both my 500's now.

1. Make sure the paint is 100% spotless, try some clay the area first to remove any contaminates on the paint, then wipe down with IPA or similar.

2. Measure everything 3 times at least.

I'm noy sure I understand the reasoning behind people not wanting pics of their cars online as once you are out on the road in the car it's clear for all to see, and easier for crims to locate you.
