Have you had the egr valve checked - common problem on the 1.9. Does sound more electrical than mechanical if it has run all this time since your last post.

How did you connect to a laptop - was that at fiat?

This is on my partners 1.3 Mjet.
Had the same problem last year, FIAT gave the wastegate a nudge with a long pole and since then it worked fine up until now.

I purchased the lead and software off ebay to connect car to laptop to check warning message.

Just need to locate where the wastegate is so I can check it hasnt seized again.
