Been having a few electrical troubles. So wondering if this is related. Started my car today after waiting in it with it switched off for 20 minutes (after a longish drive)

When I switched it on I was greeted with the check engine light. Three beeps and my engine fan sounding like it was going to take off.

The fan stayed on for a while then went off. But the engine was cold. Check engine light is still on.

Thanks in advance

Lights gone off now. So will try new battery. Otherwise probably going to be a painful electrical fault [emoji107]

What engine is it? 1.6 can have ECU problems .. and the fan is controlled by the ECU. Otherwise it’s unlikely to be a real problem. I presume your engine really wasn’t overheating... just the ECU thought it was.

If you’ve had a few random electrical issues, a new battery is probably the first best thing to try unless you know your battery is definitely okay.
