I know there are a few posts about this...BUT - got this error today.

Got out, and checked, and both bulbs are working.

Can this be caused by a failing bulb? And is the best thing to do, just replace both and go from there?

OR - could it be something else causing it?

If the contacts are faulty the light can be working but its been on and off multiple times for a few microseconds...triggering your warning. Swapping the bulbs won't stop this from happening. You'd need to clean or repair the contacts, or replace the bulb holders.

ah righto - nice one, i'll try some electrical contact cleaner and remove and reinsert bulb 30 times or so. :)

Can this be caused by a failing bulb
Possibly. The resistance of the bulb might change, and the circuit is sensitive to having the correct resistance (that's how the warning works). A corroded connector can also have the same effect.

Some types of bulb can also trigger the warning, even when new, if their resistance is outside of limits.

So try replacing both left and right bulbs with the correct type 580 and see what results?
Did you try main beam, thinking poor earth?
