Hi,

My 2007 2.3 Ducato is not charging, when I check the supply to the alternator it is only 9V, is this correct or is something dragging down the voltage?

Martin

The battery connects to the starter motor and then a separate output on the starter motor feeds it on to the alternator B+ terminal.

A020 is the starter and A010 is the alternator in the attachment

It is the exiter voltage I am talking about which I guess is D+

B+ is the thick cable that connects to the battery to charge it via the starter motor.
D+ is the output that extinguishes the battery lamp when the alternator starts, as D+ goes negative. This voltage comes to the alternator via the Body Control Module
I thought modern alternators have the exciters built in to their voltage regulators??

PS. Does it start to charge if the engine revs are increased?
