Hello all,

I need to change the section of corrugated pipe between the exhaust manifold and the EGR valve on my Euro 5 Ducato (2013).

I've got the relevant sections of e-learn at hand but I'd like to double-check what happens with the coolant as I will have to disconnect some lines.

Can I just try to minimize how much flows out (maybe plug the pipes?), top up afterwards and assume that whatever air I've introduced will make its way to the expansion tank? Or do I need to change the coolant entirely or bleed the system afterwards?

Are you removing the coolant pipes to the egr cooler?

Maybe.

E-learn instructions are to take the whole EGR assembly off and mount it in a vise in order to remove and reattach the connector pipe. I do hope to get away with not disconnecting the pipes, but that will depend on slack and torque required etc...

Just finished the job. It took me nearly all day and I did not enjoy it 😣

I had to disconnect some coolant pipes in the end. I got away with disconnecting only the degassing pipe and the coolant inlet, losing coolant amounting to the volume of the expansion tank.

Topped it up with demineralized water and will arrange a coolant change soon.

I thought the exhaust supply pipe had only a little crack and was in for a surprise.
