Does anyone know if it is possible to change the colour of the dial lights. preferable behind the engine guages? i know that there are instructions on changing these bulbs but can you get different colours?

You will find that the bulbs are white and its the backing of the dials thats coloured.

So if i put blue bulbs in it would be a purple colour like the golf dials?

Is it ok to take of the red needles that show the fuel levels/speed/temp? Or is that stupid?

I'd recommend scraping the green backing off, then lining it with coloured film (photographic lighting gel). Leave the white bulbs aas they are. I had mine like that before, they looked great!
I have a feeling the green is too strong to make a nice colour if you mix it with blue bulbs!

Thanks Ben but do you know if i can remove the red needles? It might upset the balance or acuracy maybe? I thought that a spring kept the needle on zero when idle. if u remove needle surely it will go spinning out of control?

bad idea you will have major issues getting them back in the right places and moving properly your best bet is to take the screws out of the back of the dials and they come out as individual units like speedo rev gague etc then you can turn them over and with a sharp edge scrap the green away be carefull tho just scrape the areas where the numbers and markers are

I didn't think of that when I originally (as neatly as I could) cut slits in my dials to lift them over the needles!

@Ash - that can only be done on a mk1 dials. The mk2 dials are all in one pece - mine are.

I have seven colour changing leds in my dials in place of the original bulbs, works great, would look better if i scrapped off the green film, but as the change colour at different rates you have multi coloured dials.
