i'm wondering if anyone could help with this most annoying problem that ive got with regards to the central locking.

So heres the problem:

I can lock the doors and boot from the passenger side of the car no problems their, but when i try to lock the doors and boot from the drivers
door the central locking seems to throw an epileptic fit (just locks, unlocks and finishes up unlocked.)
I baught a new C/L motor hoping it was just that but sadly not .

Then i thought that i might get around it by buying a new Remote C/L alarm system but that didnt help either it has exactly the same problem..

I'd appreciate any help i can get on this and thanks for listening.(reading :))

almost forgot: The car in question is a 96 cinq sporting

was it the passenger door motor you replaced? it would be that side thats failing to cause those symptoms.

No m8 it was the drivers side motor that i replaced (the side that keeps throwing a fit every time i try to lock it :()

Yeh its actually the pass side that will be failing...

The central locking system unlocks after locking when a door fails to lock properly.

Whats happening when your locking from the passenger side is your mechanically forcing the lock down, the system detects the doors been locked and sends power to the other 2 motors to lock to. It ensures the triggers on those motors are tripped to confirm the doors have locked.

From the drivers side the same happens. You mechanically force that lock down, the system detects it and sends power to the other 2 motors to lock them. It ensures the trigger on those motors have tripped to confirm they've locked. It notices the passenger lock trigger hasn't tripped and so hasn't locked properly, and so unlocks the doors again.

So its either a motor or lock fault on the passenger side.

Hope that helps (y)

now why didnt i think of that.. (possible stress..)

thanks for that info Xen, that makes total sense after reading a couple of times.

I'll give that a go Tomorrow
