Styling  cd player

ebay is easy but not cheap, scrapyard is very cheap (£5-10), and you can easily get the code using free software on the net.
but why not get a better stereo? buying the standard one would be madness. you can pick up a surround for £7-8 on ebay, then a nice cd/mp3 player for as little as £30. you know it makes sense.

gunna do that na live in a high risk area so u=you never own anything for long lol although i have just found a cover for the brava cd cover that looks just like a normal cassette player so will disgise the fact that i have a desent cd player in soon

the simple answer, get a stereo with a removable face plate, and dont leave the face plate in the car. i dont leave mine in even when i go in a shop or a friend's house or even while i'm at work.

not many thieves are thick enough to steal a stereo without the face plate, its worthless.

true, which is why my headunit is secured with steel wire and a padlock, craftily hidden behind the dash. a bit of paranoia always helps :D

Irrelevant though, once they have got to the point that they can't remove the stereo you have lost the majority of money by then, loss of stereo? £20-200 odd? Depending on the person, smashed window, damanged lock, damaged console, the fact that somebody else has been in your car, the anger they take out on it when they can't remove it, damage to door...etc. that's the real importance.

very true, but realistically thats unavoidable, you do what you can to limit your loss, but if someone wants to rape your baby there isnt much you can do about it. where you park helps. and not leaving anything on show helps too. having visible deterrents (i have 2 LEDs on alarm) also helps. i take evey possible step to prevent the initial break in. but if you're luck runs out there's nothing you can do, and i assume you're more likely to suffer a break in if you have a 'modded' car because they expect to find subs and amps etc (which are also very well secured in my car, even use a thatcham approved £80 motorbike lock on my sub :D )

extreme paranoia helps even more.

But isn't this what the OP is saying? He wants the standard look CD player (or casette player cover over the fascia) since then very few people would bother breaking it...which is where your main loss is for a break in.

it depends what proportion of thieves you believe would want to steal a stereo without the front. i'm hoping not many of them would bother. i know most thieves (or at least most the thieves where i live) steal stereo gear to exchange directly for heroin. the dealers wont give them anything for something they cant easily sell. dealers dont want to go on ebay for weeks trying to find the missing front panel. thats the gamble i take, fingers crossed its the right one. i've seen the fake standard stereo panels you can buy, but i know original fit stereos are targetted by thieves because the code can be easily obtained using free software (much easier than finding a missing front panel for my stereo). its not uncommon to have an original fit stereo stolen where i live.

maybe a little out of point ... parametric alarms are cool too.

My car was fitted with one when i got it and it works well, unfortunately I can't avoid all the slow moving old people giving me wierd looks when i open it up

what is a parametric alarm? do you mean the ones that detect people close to the car before they even touch it?
