Car wont start as said on ff wondering if im missing anything.

ran fine then died.

new crank sensor not helped neither has HT leads.

no compression is felt on the crank although oil is clean and coolant is still there. spark and fuel is getting there but without compression its not helping.

its had a metalic whir for days before it died. any ideas?

going to strip for a hg anyway to check but that and piston rings mabee ive missed something

its ok mate. it is turning over unlike yours was. just not starting. ill take it all apart tomorrow and look at the pistons ect see wahts going on.

pretty sure we have narrowed it down to head gasket or piston ring. i thought of both but didnt want to assume the worst incase it was simple.

time to strip it :-(

It will more than likely be hg steve , you have said that engine has dow about 20k . the rings should not be shot unless uve ran it LOW on oil ... and its fried them ,
OR more than likely its a head gasket ,,, £7 from a motor factors.,..

Hg is fine just took it off. not a problem with it at all nice and shiney in fact.

piston rings are fine so are all other parts. i think the timing belt was slack... really slack and the tensionor is also broke so i need a new tensioner and hg set now aswell so hope thats all.... compression was gone because on tdc the inlett was open and on bdc the exhaust was open. almost opposite of how it should have been

still dead guys need new ideas.

new timing belt fitted. now has compression. new hg fitted because i removed head. all nice and tight.

has spark.
has fuel.
fuel pump is priming.
car turns over..... nothing else.

any ideas

When you say turning over Steve, do you mean it will crank but not fire??
Check the fuel cut off switch.
easyest way to find it is:
Lean accross driver's seat, head in passenger footwell, and you should see when you look towrds the front a small round button, like a cigarette lighter (you may need a torch to see this), press the button down, and then see if Neo fires.
