Technical carb

Hi again can anyone tell me what other car is fitted with the same carb thats on the x19 as the carb fitted to mine is just about wore out and i have been told that its best to replace it by the bloke that mot,d it any help i would be gratful i would like to get the old girl running better. many thanks scaltec

depends if you have a water activated choke or a manual one....

manual choke best option would be a regata 85s carb (1985ish), or similar, these run a 32/34 dmtr type carb, which in addition to being slightly larger venturi and throttle blade sizes, has brass bushes on the throttle shafts, as opposed to nylon bushings (which is probably whats worn away) in the std X19 carbs

Other cars to look at would be the Lancia range, including the twin cam betas, as they use the same style of carb, only larger internals for engines all the way up to 2litres...

I'm sure you can find something.... I have seen a couple of new carbs on Ebay in just the last couple of days.... check german ebay, theres a brand new carb in there

You can swap the carb tops between the water heated choke and manual choke models, dont let that put you off.

Its the throttle shafts that wear, or more correctly the throttle shaft bushes in the carb body. Thats the big advantage of the later model ones, like from strada/ritmo/regata... they are brass bushed.

DMTR, DATRA, DATRL are all basically the same carb.... the numbers that follw the ID simply tell you if any pollution or vacuum controls / ports are fitted, and identifies them for their standard fitment and jetting

the second letter stands for (M)Manual or (A)Aqua (water) choke....

there are also electrically operated chokes on some obscure models.
