Hello all, im hoping maybe someone can help me out with a question about carburetors. I have a 1965 Fiat 500F with a 650. I recently put a new carb on her ( Solex 32 single bore) my question is about the filter/ airbox etc. if you are familiar with these motors you know the fan shroud has a circular filter on top with a tube going into the carb. I notice how many people eliminate that and just have a screen filter on the carb, as to get dirct air from outside rather then the air from the fan.
My question is what is the benefit? Is there any? Is it just for cooler air? .... Im new to mechanics and am trying to understand this completly, and what would be the best for me to do. THANKS in advance.
