Technical Car wont lock

My FIAT 500E 2021 will not lock.
I have 2 key pebbles and neither will lock the car.
The car turns on ok, so I know it's not the batteries.
But it will not lock (the lights flash when I press the lock button on the key, but the actual locking does not happen).

They're not pebbles if you have buttons. Doesn't matter except if you need parts. If you lock the car and the lights flash and you place all keys more than ten feet away is the car still not locked? If you lock the car and the lights flash and you place all keys more than ten feet away is the red indicator light flashing in the centre of the dash by the hazard light switch?

hi, thank you, i have just tried that and yes, when i move 10 feet away the car is locking.
up until today it used to lock immediately whilst i was still standing by the car?
It's not very practical that it only locks if I move 10 feet away, because I can't check it's locked if it only locks when I move away?

In that case it’s almost certain there’s no fault. The cars unlocking again when the key is close to the car.

any idea why this might have suddenly started happening?
it used to lock immediately when i pressed the fob, standing next to the car. All of a sudden it only locks when i move away.

and yes, the car is unlocking when the key is close to the car.
I used to have to press the button on the fob to unlock the car. All of a sudden it is unlocking itself when i come close.

As a neurotic person, there is no way of me checking that the car is really locked! as it only locks when i move away and then unlocks when i move close!!

In that case the setting in the menus for keyless locking has been switched on.

Remote update - Big brother is watching.....
I bet there was a security update, hence why something has changed.

That does not sound like correct functioning. Remote access is NOT supposed to work that way. I suggest you do a shut-off cycle. See the fifth item here.

There is. If the red light is flashing in the centre of the dash by the hazard lights switch then the car is locked. How do you tell it unlocks as you get close as there is no noise of doing so? If you mean that when you grab the handle the door opens then that's correct if remote access is switched on. It doesn't unlock as you approach it unlocks as you operate the handle.

If you try the handle immediately after locking, it should stay locked, but you have to be quick.

That could be if the battery is a bit weak, and the radio signal is being attenuated by the door metal. Try locking when close, but holding the fob up to the glass.
