T Tom Guest Dec 23, 2004 #41 Leave your inverter earth where it is, a self tapping screw won't take ANY current.
A Alex Guest Dec 23, 2004 #42 OK, thanks alot for your help TOM and JAY, i'll let you know how I get on when I get my car back.
T Tom Guest Dec 23, 2004 #43 Wire is never rated as 'x watts'. Thats just a madeup number stuck on wiring kits. Long wires = voltage drops voltage drops = less volts and the end of the wire less volts = more current more current = heat heat = melted wires

OP OP A Anonymous Guest Dec 23, 2004 #44 Tom's right your inverter earth sounds fine, just add the case earth to somewhere close by and I reckon you'll be cool. I'm Boo, are you?

OP OP A Anonymous Guest Dec 23, 2004 #45 your earthing wire should ideally be the same as your +ve. Think of it as plumbing pipes, you send 20 gallons a minute down a 5cm pipe, then only use a 2cm pipe as your drainage, you'll get a flood. I'm Boo, are you?

OP OP A Anonymous Guest Dec 23, 2004 #46 I ran two earth wires on my PC as recommended by MP3Car.com. One from the case and one from the Motherboard... Its worked for me so far and i suspect help reduce interference. Daz Help me rule the world by clicking the following link...

T Tom Guest Dec 23, 2004 #47 Jay, thats a terrible analogy The difference between wire and pipe is 2m of 10mm pipe and 2000m of 10mm pipe flow about the same amount of water. 2m of 10 guage wire and 2000m of 10 guage wire will not take the same current.

D DanZ Guest Dec 23, 2004 #50 It's right if you meant 5cm and 2cm as diameter of pipes...leave me out of this now
