You can download fiatecuscan for free....its now called multiscan.
You just need a USB to OBD adaptor

One of these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAG-KKL-USB-COM-OBD-2-Diagnostic-Cable-for-AUDI-VW-Skoda-Seat-OBDII-EOBD-/300732667040?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item46051054a0

And you can get the codes yourself.

From what you described in your other thread it may be a cam or crank sensor but really you should get your code first snce you have an engine management light on
Marty

AA use " Snap-On " Handheld scanners, that in reality do not really do anything. Do the above with a laptop or buy a Autel MS500 ( Approx £110.00 ) handheld or a Autel EU702 handheld ( Approx £170.00 ), both of the Autel's will do any Fiat/ Alfa / GM Petrol engine from Year 2000 or any Fiat / Alfa / GM Diesel from 2004.

Diagnostic around £50.00, then £80.00+ for every hour...

Decent handheld as mentioned cover all cars, and pays for itself in very short space of time or the KKL cable and the laptop.

If you've got a laptop, the cost of a suitable OBD2 cable (around a tenner on ebay) and the free fiatecuScan/multiScan software is the way to go. The same money would just about pay for the Fiat dealer to make themselves a cup of tea.

Another alternative (though not as complete as MultiScan) is a Bluetooth ELM327 plug-in off ebay (around £12) and the free version of Torque from Android market onto your smartphone. Great for on-the-fly diagnosis. It's permanently plugged in to my Multi. Fix It Again Tomorrow!

I have both the Autel [£170 at the time] EU701 [same as the new MaxiDiag701] and the android [about £12 at the time] Torque Pro. Both do a good job, but one was £160 cheaper !
