Dear All,

I have been asked my a friend to get a quote for Car insurance on the net for a car he's thinking of buying.

I have tried Tesco and Direct line, and they are not giving the option of paying monthly....... Is this a new thing or am I missing something here? It just keeps saying "One off payment", and if you leave all the boxes blank then it won't let you continue forwards, if you tick the box it'll put you through to a screen where you have to pay the full amount.

Any ideas what's going on? & Can anyone recommend cheap insurance?

Thanks! :slayer:

Merry Christmas!

nver seen that. both those companies use same system too (pretty much same company) always gives me monthly payment

done a quote and it's given me the monthly amount... sorry to say it works for me, but that might be cos a premium for me is a little higher than for you.

Who did you try with, Morethan gave me a monthly amount, Tesco, Directline and Churchill all want a lump sum payment ?

This is what it comes up with?!?!?

Payment option 1 - Single payment Single payment Yes single payment 1 Select card type Visa debit/delta Visa card MasterCard Switch/Maestro Amex 2 Does the card you wish to use belong to the policy holder? Yes No

tried with tesco.. £35.06 per month details of deposit, etc, then total amount.

its dependant on your age, Tesco wont allow you to pay monthly if your under 19 i think it was...

:yeahthat:

I dont think any insurance company will allow you to pay monthly until you are at least 18 years old (some like Ryan said need you to be 19+)

I had this problem with my first car when I was 17, ended up taking the policy out in my mum's name so that I could pay monthly.

As stated above monthly payment plans are only offered until you're at least 18+. I had this trouble when getting insuring my car at 17 and had to stump up just shy of a thousand quid in one go.

Two years down the line I still pay in one lump sum, though, to save on the ~20% interest fee most companies charge for monthly payment. Plus, seeing as insurance is just £380, the financial arse-rape is nowhere near as severe.
