... give me a chance here, i thougth it would be a really good idea to have a...'thing'.... where you can enter a cars registration number and it will bring up if there is any bad history for that vehical, the information would have to be entered by members, so for our own cars and ones you see out and about that have been repaired (fiats obviously) you can document it on here so people can have a bit of peice of mind when looking at fiats.

for example for my uno i would document the fact it had been rear ended(n)

for hhe punto across the road i would note it had been in a front end crash.

get the idea?

the info doesnt need to be all on show just displayed when the registration number is entered there for not displaying all plates of all cars.

what do you think?:)

i like the overall idea of what you're suggesting, but even if every member listed every piece of information about every fiat they know of it would still only cover a very small percentage of fiats on the road.

also not everyone is going to want to list thier own cars history (for obvious dishonest reasons such as resale value) so i think most people with a damage repaired fiat wouldnt list it as damaged unless it is already recorded, in which case it will be stated on the front of the V5 logbook anyway so how does it help.

i get what you're suggesting, a kind of free hpi check, but even HPI have trouble getting it to work so i dont think its really feasible for the forum. plus finance and stolen issues could not be included on our system, and an HPI check is pretty cheap (£20 over the phone for a full check) so if you really want to know more about a car you're better off checking with them.

I think a more fun thing along the same lines would be for you to enter the numberplate and find out if any other members have owned your car previously.

Rather than them recording damage they could record stories of journeys the car has been on, or work they have had done. Sort of gives you an idea of what the car has been upto before you got it.
