hi guys hope someone might be able to shed some light on a problem with my marea weekend 1.8 on 99 plate was driving down the road and it just died on me checked cam belt is intact and engine is turning over but no sign of life had signs of a problem last night when ii braked at junction annd the headlights flashed off and on again likke total power loss for a second then it was fine after started fine today no strange noises not even when it died a mile down the road now will not start.there are no warning lights up on dash apart from normall ones when u first turn ign on.any ideas???????????????

When you turn the ignition to the first (MAR) position, when the dash is on,do you hear the fuel pump in the fuel tank runing for about 3 seconds? If no,check the engine cut out switch first. On the older models it under one of the front seats. In UK models It should be under the drivers (right) seat.On newer models it on the front pillar under dashboard,it´s by the fuse box,but on the pillar. On the UK models it´s on the right pillar. It has a rubber on it.Slightly push it if it isn´t p jumped out.If it´s pushed in,the your problem is probably the fuel pump.

cheers for your reply but it turned out to be worse than just cutting out as alernaor belt shreded up and went around cam belt resulting in damaging cam belt and valves car is now for sale in the classifieds
