Can't select some gears

i have changed the clutch on a brava 1.2 16 v 2000 v reg.I have put everything back togeather but the gear leaver is leaning very tight to passenger side. i have tried adjusting the cable that sits on top of the gear box and cable does seem to be about 2 inches short to get gear leaver to sit in the middle.i have look all around and can't seem to find anything jaming on the cable as it comes through a bracket straight to top of gear box.The only gears i can get is reverse and 3rd and 4th anybody had this problem before.

I have tried to register and open account.Their must be somthing wrong as no matter what user name i use it says their is already a user with that name.

I cant help with the clutch issue.

When you sign up, you dont just sign up to BOO, you sign up to Network54, which is who hosts this forum... Network54 is a very big place, and i know i had to have several attempts before finding a user name it'd let me have!!

ive never had a problem like this beofre when pulling my 1.2 apart (multiple gearbox changes) so as for the resoning im not too sure to be honest. my only line of thought is that the gear selector cables are snagged somewhere

where are you based, if your fairly local i could possibly have a look for you as i kinda know that 1.2 transmission inside out now (based on the isle of sheppey in kent btw)

I did it

I fixed it in the end turned out to be gearbox.The gear selector had moved inside the gear box yet i was assured this could not happen.After dropping the gear leaver and selector cables that was only think left to check.So i opened the top of gear box up and the gear selector was sat on the side of the selector bar and not in the middle.So i put it back in middle and reassembled and can select all gears.

gd job buddy. takes a nit of balls to go dismantling that lot. wouldn't be for me i dont think.
