Hello there fellow fiaters

Just love my fiat Bravo 1.4 active (well i loved the tjet 1.4 sport a bit better but that was double the insurance for me . . so ill just wait till im older . . .and im 28 now :( ) but ive run into a problem.

I cannot remove my collant cap. Ive tried turning, pushing down and turning, lifting, sliding and of course swearing at it. Cant get it off. Whats the trick?

haw haw, im serious this cap is now hurting my hands, and i am a bloke, problem is im pretty strong and i dont want to go ripping it off, surely its supposed to come off quite easy.

ive phoned the dealer ship and their all like "bring it in", come on dudes, whats the trick as im not prepared to rip it off and have it cost me a refit on the part

Hi, try putting a rag over the cap and use a pair of mole grips to remove it.

yep tried that. please, i know it sounds like a real "what a moron" request but im absolutely positive there is no way i should have to apply this much force to remove an integral cap to the cars maintainance, of the last 5 cars ive owned this has been the last of my worries and now its on the back of my mind every day. Looks like im taking it to the garage, im guessing this thing is cross threaded or faulty or ive put that much bloody force on it already ive knackered it up myself :bang:

If it is the one I think it is then sometimes the answer is not brute force. Once the lug on the cap has passed over the lug on the expansion bottle it locks it in position. Turn cap anticlockwise, lifting instead of pushing down and hopefully it will come off. When they have been removed a few times the lug (s) will have worn a little facilitating easier removal next time. The other way is to file it doen a little putting a nice bevel edge instead.

Good luck :)
