Ah Tom, you don't know what you're missing, my friend
There's great new, original music out there, you just have to know where to look
But I agree, music today is the product of marketing men, who tell us what we want to listen to and what we want to buy. The majority of us have been brainwashed, and I don't use that term lightly, into wanting what the big 5 cartel want us to listen to.
Break free of that, and you will find some awesome original stuff out there.
And on a lighter note, one of the musical activism sites I visit has just come up with a new project, which is so tongue in cheek.
Ever downloaded a track from a P2P file sharer, only to find that after 30 seconds of listening back, you get a high pitched whistle or the noise of a modem interuptting your song ? These files are placed out there on purpose to put people off file sharing. Well, our friends that brought you the Jay Z Construction Set in the wake of Dangermouse's Grey Album, have now launched
http://riaamix.com . They've compiled the best of these tracks and made a whole album of them !
Now lets see if the RIAA take them to court for downloading stuff that the RIAA put up in the first place !!
