can you fill this out for a mate of mine! 2 second questionnaire

re

i dunno really, its for his dissatation at uni, he's doing somethign to do with media, cant remember what! he just needs as many people as poss to fill it out!

Either its for a disertation OR anyone that fills this in gets their IP address logged which the police will then use to raid your house and pc and check for pirate media. I reckon they will prioritise anybody who checked the "it doesn't bother me its illegal" box! :)

I just said I downloaded stuff cause you cant buy 78 records anymore.....lol

You forgot to add as reasons:

1) Modern manufactured pop is ****!
2) Record companies don't care about tallent any more, all that matters is if they can get a No 1.
3) the artists have to pimp themselves to make money as they make sod all from record sales.

I hardly download any music as the quality is usually awful.

Ah Tom, you don't know what you're missing, my friend ;)

There's great new, original music out there, you just have to know where to look :)

But I agree, music today is the product of marketing men, who tell us what we want to listen to and what we want to buy. The majority of us have been brainwashed, and I don't use that term lightly, into wanting what the big 5 cartel want us to listen to.

Break free of that, and you will find some awesome original stuff out there.

And on a lighter note, one of the musical activism sites I visit has just come up with a new project, which is so tongue in cheek.
Ever downloaded a track from a P2P file sharer, only to find that after 30 seconds of listening back, you get a high pitched whistle or the noise of a modem interuptting your song ? These files are placed out there on purpose to put people off file sharing. Well, our friends that brought you the Jay Z Construction Set in the wake of Dangermouse's Grey Album, have now launched http://riaamix.com . They've compiled the best of these tracks and made a whole album of them !
Now lets see if the RIAA take them to court for downloading stuff that the RIAA put up in the first place !!

For more info visit http://downhillbattle.org or http://bannedmusic.org or http://riaamix.com

Rob, real music comes on those big old flat black things that don't fit in CD players, usually with white labels on them ;)

Very little of that is on the internet though. I'm happy to pay for it as most of the money goes to the artist who has quite often funded the recording and stampting all on their own.

Tom, you're a fossil !! LOL ;)

Hey, even I'm in my 30's and have still managed to embrace the new technology !

And did you know that buying music direct from the artist over the internet in the form of a download earns the artist 3 times what they would earn from a "Big 5" record company !! Prince is a case in point. He sells his albums on his website at $9.99 per album, yet makes 3 times more than he did when with Warner !

I've restored and expanded my burgeoning 70's and 80's back catalogue from downloading via Peer To Peer file sharing ;)

Almost got a complete Specials catalogue now !! LOL And there's all those kiddies thinking that the music from the Ford Fiesta "Pinball" ad was new !! LOL

Rob

Everyone knows the big 5 are purely there to make money for them and no-one else.

They constantly moan that downloading is causing a drop in record sales BUT more music is being given away free with mags etc.. and the **** they are selling is well.. **** really.

Far too many manufactured bands, far too many **** cover versions, FAR too many 'yo yo yo indahouse motherfucker' rap tossers.

Tom,
