Technical Can you default assistant to android auto/carplay?

Is it possible to make the assistant button default to your phone instead of the infotainment. e.g. if I say navigate to xyz I want it to do that using google maps on my android auto and not try to use the built in satnav.

Oh brilliant thank you, I didn't think to try that. Maybe the answer is easy to find but do you also know how to control the play /pause button on android auto? When I press the left behind steering wheel button it cycles through the radio before acting as the play button.

If it’s same as Apple and the car then you can only mute with middle right button on rear not pause. Very silly.
