General Can I track mileage history for peace of mind

Hi all,
Just wanted to throw this out there. I bought a car a few weeks ago from a friend-of-a-friend type situation. Seemed legit, and the price was fair. But now that I’ve had some time with it, I’m noticing more wear than I expected for the supposed 90,000 miles it’s showing.

I have the VIN and was told you could check past mileage records using it. I’m not sure where to start, though. I’m also not looking to blow $40 on a Carfax report unless that’s really my only choice.

Does anyone know of any sites or tools that can show things like past odometer readings or mileage at the time of service or registration? Just trying to protect myself and make sure everything’s on the up and up.

If you have access to the kit,

Interrogate the body computer to see distance the ECU, etc has controlled

In a modern FIAT the speedometer cannot be "wound back" below this "stored value"

Of course this car was built by Mazda (normally in Japan)
