Buy steel wheels with 175/65 r14's on them, factory spec so doesn't cause any issues with insurance.

Then go with 185/55 r15's. Don't tell me you're changing your tyres over every year

Well that's the difficulty. The hassle of having them changed twice a year. Or having steel wheels on for 5/6 months of the year? I paid for the nice alloys. Really would rather keep them on. For me, they make the look of the car.

Consider how much getting them changed twice a year will cost you, consider how much the salt will fork up your nice alloys (and tyre fitters) and then go and get a 2nd set of alloys or some steelies, changing your tyres over onto the same rims is one of the least sensible ideas ever.
