Hi,

For the boards info:

Marea TD125 2.4 - 1998 R plate - 84,000 miles

Cambelt changed at Desira Bury St Eds for £340, and was told that the old one looked fine. Also had aux belt, tensioner and idle bearing changed at the same time.

1.6 sx 1998 (mk1)

Had my cambelt changed by EK motors at smithy bridge after 72050 miles. Cost £160 including all the other stuff they do at that service (oil change, filters etc)

Thinking of buying a Marea 2.4 TD, but I've heard that the cambelts are expensive to replace due to the engine needing to be removed.

Is this correct? If so, what mileage is the cambelt renewal due and what should I expect to pay?

Thanks,

Al

Also, any comments re this car - I'm after a Weekend HLX.

2.4 TD HLX Weekend

Have a 97 version. Just had full service and change of cambelt, £420 inclusive.

Love the car, smooth, fast, quite, refined and very economical for the size of engine

Do u know if this was an engine out job as with the 20v?

Hi

Basicly as the title says, iv got a bravo hgt that needs the cambelt doing really but its finding the 600-700 pound for it. If your not to sure think you may have the number any where? as im only in cambridge so your only 20 minutes down the road,

any help would be much appreciated

2.4 TD HLX Weekend

Thanks for your reply Colin. I bet that wasn't at a Fiat dealer.

I test-drove one today. It didn't seem very fast. Perhaps it's because I'm not used to driving a diesel. Anyway, I didn't buy it because the bodywork was a bit scratched in places and there was a bit of oil on the engine.

I may yet buy an Omega TD instead yet, we'll see.
