Hi Guys,

i have a 2004 fiat ulysse eleganza 2.0 jtd

the cam belt has just gone at 80500 miles, fiat garage have quoted me £2500 -£6000 to get it repaired, this seems outrageous as we only paid £4500 for it in february.

any one have any ideas of how to get this sorted, without chopping off my arms. i live in the north west UK, if anyone has any good contacts.

My usual friendy trust worthy local garage won't touch it becuase of where the engine is positioned etc.

Any help or advice would be appreciated

if not anyone got anygood offers for spares !!

Chris

the engine is actually quite easy to remove and any half decent garage would have no problems !!
if it was me "again" i would remove engine and see if the injectors can be removed as this is where most of the cost is, if they come out it will probably be just a case of replacing all 16 rockers (less than the price of 1 injector !) and put engine back .
if the injectors are really seized (which is highly likely) it would be an idea to sell as spares unless you can find another engine but they are a bit thin on the ground

good luck

anyone know where the engine code is located please ie: RHT, RHW etc,

i have the engine number but need the code so i can look out for a spare engine should the injectors fail to come out.

cheers

chris
