hi on this year they dont have one so you could fit the engine without one which i would assume would be cheaper
or fit the one with thew cam sensor but just ignore it when you plug everything else in
i hope you arent buying your engine off dms they wanted £40 for a 5 door rear light lens last time i called in whilst passing, never been back since seeing as i havent won the lottery

thanx for that sand b yeh i was thinking of getting it from dms they quoted me anywhere from 150 to 200 which is ironic cos i bought the car from there 2 weeks ago for 300 pounds and according to them it was a driver and starter tut tut any ideas for an engine or would it be cheaper to repair head and new clutch ?

was it in their salvage auction then?
you can view and get the keys on a friday you know
or you could

i would decide why engine no good before buying a replacement
thompsons would be favourable for an engine in my opinion but i dont know doncaster that well

yeh it was in there salvage and i live in donny but the car was in huddersfield ..to be honest mate they didn't know were the car was it took me nearly three weeks to have it delivered (which they did for free) should of been 40 quid .. yeh there is white gunk in the oil cap every time i wipe it it comes back the water is going somewhere dont know?and the clutch is slipping its knackers off just thinking if i can get a engine for around 150 i will do that..

I'd think a 2000 car won't have a cam sensor, but it's easy enough to tell -- just look! The cam sensor if fitted sits just in front of the oil filler plug and to the driver's side, on the cam cover. Has wires leading to it.

An engine with cam sensor is a straight swap as S & B says. You can either just leave as is or swap the cam cover over.

thanx fingers yeh im quite sure there wasn't any wires near the oil filler cap av u got any sugestions as to wether it would be cheaper to av the head fixed and new clutch or buy another engine?

Hows the gearbox? any noises?
Make sure you check the input shaft for play and the clutch for oil contamination while its all apart.
