I can almost hear the groans from members when someone wants to know about changing a timing belt. They can, to say the least , be problematic.

But anyway the book says: "Areas that are not dusty: recommended maximum mileage 120,000km. The belt must be replaced every 6 years, regardless of distance travelled. Dusty areas and/or demanding use of the vehicle (cold climates, town use, long periods of idling):advised maximum mileage 60,000km. The belt must be replaced every 4 years, regardless of distance travelled."

It is important to take it to a Fiat specialist or a Fiat experienced mechanic. The water pump and tensioner should be changed at the same time. I only know the cost will be in the £ hundreds. If you are thinking of attempting the work yourself a genuine Fiat timing belt kit costs around £120. Good luck.
