Hi all,

Ive recently had my cambelt / waterpump on my Marea 2.0 20v changed.

However ive not been given the car back yet by the garage as they have told me that the car will now not start. Apparently there is a magnetized sensor somewhere within the Cambelt pulley area that is rusty and dirty and is preventing the car from starting.

The mechanic showed me by pulling the cam belt cover to the side and blowing compressed air onto the sensor, the car then fired up.

If the mechanic was then to switch off the car and leave it for a period of hours then the car will again not start.

So anybody any thoughts? Am i being taken for a ride? Anybody experienced this type of problem before.

When switching on the Injector warning light illuminates also.

Cheers Gmonster

Sounds like the crank position sensor. Can't see why it would stop working unless they've damaged it.

The mechanic did say he would not have had to touch it if he didnt have to change the waterpump.

I dont suppose you know where i can get a cheap replacement then or approx how much they are.

PS thanks for the rapid reponse(y)

this seems to happen fairly often on the 20v when the sensor is disturbed. just buy a new sensor from a local motorfactors and get them to fit it (for free).

Yeah that sounds about right when I bent a conrod the Fiat Dealership that "repaired" the car did the same to mine. took them 3 days to figure it out. I now use my local Honda garage. They didn't know the car too well but they have been in and about it plenty times now, so they are getting to know it quite well now!:D
