Well it appears my insurance company have screwed me sideways so i cant do any "performance mods" so i am limited now mainly to ice. i have absouloutly no idea what to get and where from etc or even what would be compatable, and i dont want to go into my local audio centre and pay £750 for something that should be less then £400 if you catch my drift.

so my questions are

what size speakers fit in the front of my bravo ? and can anyone recomend a good cheap set ?

i have the 1.4s which means i have no rear speakers..is there cableing to connect them or do i have to buy cableing ? if so what type and is it easy to connect ?

what size rear speakers can i get ? i am after something that sits in the original fiat recess mainly because i don't want any speakers on my parcel shelf showing and then wake up one morning to see i have no rear windscreen and no speakers left. so can anyone recomend any good quality speakers for the rear ?

i will be looking at adding an amp + sub, how many channels do i need in my amp ? 2 or 4 ? and again can anyone recomend a good one ?

i am hopefully gonna get it all bit by bit, starting with the front speakers then rear then sub/amp.

ps.. i have a Blaupunkt Casablanca CD51 head unit and i love it so anyone that says buy a new head unit will die :)

ohh and one thing i forgot to mention because my name is Dave BAHN i wouldent mind something that is audiobahn in my car :) so any suggestions would be great, i was thinking maybie the sub could be audiobahn but i here they make some bitching speakers as well.

rite as far as i know both the front speaker mounts and rear mounts are for 13cm speakers - the front are components - im looking at some nice alpine ones for about £100 from www.cel-direct.com - its a good site and cheap! im not sure on the amps etc - but with respect to the speakers that should be all you need to know - when you got buy then they should ask what car it is to make sure it fits - i found only sony ones could fit the rear mounts in my bravA! hope this helps
be sure to correct me anyone!

Dave,
Get your arse down to Gaydon this weekend (sounds a bit homosexual but..)
There should be a couple of us there with some ice setups you can look at.
Mine is probably the cheapest of the lot. 900watt 4 channel amp (110 watts RMS per channel), 2 x 10" subs in boxes and JBL 6x9's covered on back shelf. That lot plus wiring only cost around £300. The local gereatrics occasionaly pop round for a lift for vibro therapy. The wing mirrors shake like a kid on caffeine.

I'm well impressed with it for the money I paid

Re: Re: Re: Calling all ice experts...

i've got a 12" sub but in my opinion 2 12" or 2 10" subs are waaaaaay better for the vibration factor! Apart from the fact that you have 2 subs instead of one you can wire them to run at 2 ohms instead of 4 (or whatever) and get a much deeper sound. (does it show i'm no expert??? lol)

I really like 6x9's so i always recommend those to people, especially jbl, fantastic for the price!!! If you don't want them to get nicked make one of these:

I made the one on the right and its that stiff you could hang a donkeys cock off it!

As said earlier, come to gaydon, you'll get some great ideas!

Re: Re: Calling all ice experts...

All the speaker mounts are for 10cm units. You can fit 13s in the front if you make some MDF adapters but the back is too cramped for 13s.

Re: Re: Re: Calling all ice experts...

cheers for the correction tom - my brava has 13s all round! sorry about that

Re: Re: Re: Re: Calling all ice experts...

Duh, why is the Brava 13s and the Bravo 10s? Bloody Fiat!!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Calling all ice experts...

13's screwed straight into the back of my bravo!

and the fronts are a non standard size, you can buy an adaptor to fit 13's, or make one to fit 16's (door cutting required).

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Calling all ice experts...

What Mk bravo do you have? Mine would not take 13s in the normal place.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Calling all ice experts...

13's screwed straight into the back of my Mk 2 - huuuge assed vibe ones too

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Calling all ice experts...

Must just be the Mk1 that only has space for 10s. I'll never understand Fiat.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Calling all ice experts...

i have a mk2.

I can purchase rear speakers mounting adapters, but never really knew what they were for. Perhaps they are just for the mk1 bravo?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Calling all ice experts...

I have a 1.4S 1998 (so i assume mk1)

whimmy that sounds like a pretty decent setup and is defenatly around the cash i wated to spend (i am a cheap skate)

i have been on that cel direct and it looks really cheap, some good stuff there for reasnable prices.

I really can't be arsed to modify the doors to fit larger speakers so any that just pop right in there will do me fine. will i get much benefit out of getting the adaptors to fit larger speakers ?

i have a budget of around £150 this month so i should be able to get a nice set of speakers out of that then next month finish the job with a budget of £350

whimmy what is your exact ice setup then ? makes models of speakers/amps/subs etc ?

and does anyone know if i will need cableing or will it all be there waiting for me ? (i doubt it knowing fiat)

thanks for all your help so far i really apriciate it, i am clueless when it comes to ice i really am, it tok me over a hour to fit my radio :) (ok well 45 min of that was removeing the old radio with the help of a hammer and hacksaw)

My Setup

Dave,
I currently have:
Sony MD Head unit (4x50 watts)
Sont 10 disc cd changer in boot.
All original fiat speakers (back ones disconnected)
JBL GT0 (cant remember the model) 6x9's in parcel shelf (£40). Parcel shelf covered to hide them
2 x Boss Sound 10" subs - £10 each!
2 sub boxes - £45 each
4ch 900watt XS amp (110watts rms per channel) - £140
Amp Cabling - £30
Shelf - Original shelf with holes cut. Speakers through piece of covered MDF and screwed under shelf, recovered in acoustic carpet - £15 made by myself

As stated, the original speakers have been left in but the back disconnected. My sound is directed more to the rear from my head uniot so that less power is going to the standard front speakers. The tweeters in the front are pretty good.

If you need anymore info, just give us a shout

audiobahn

yes audiobahn do direct replacements for bravo front door speakers ABF86T 100watt rms (£80) not bad and 6x9's ABF39T 215watt rms (£135) both of these speakers have flames stamped in chrome covering the basket and speaker they look cool

they also look good in dark colour bravos as in my black 1.8 bravo as i have done the interior in silver with audiobahn speakers with chrome flames and 7.2" tv screen and playstation on board.
