Does anyone know how the boot trim under the rear window is fixed on the by diesel?
I am thinking about taking it off but don't want to if it is screwed on.
As far as i can see it is just stuck on.

I guess I need an parts diagram or someone that has taken it off...

I would guess it's bonded. But I very much suspect that you don't want to go messing around with it based on what someone on a forum guesses :p

I think its just bonded on. Just been having a look at it now. You just thinking of taking it off then?

Y'no it may be chavvy, but I was thinking of getting them chrome plated......or brushed aluminium.....? But have no idea how they would look.

Yes I think the car looks better without it.
If you were going to get it chromed I would just get a vinyl place to "wrap" it.
That should only cost a few £ and you would not need to take it off.

Mask the trims off and spray them in satin black should look good !
But they are part of the style of the car...

An update on this one...I have taken the trim off, It was bonded on.
It took a couple of hours with the misses hair dryer to heat the stuff up but it is now done. The fiat badge on the trim comes off and is now where it should be.
I have got blisters on my fingers and thumbs from getting the sticky stuff off but it was worth it.

Looks better IMHO but then again it looks strange with the fact that it's got the by diesel rear bumper trims but not that bit that you removed :p

Any chance of more pics Ian? It's quite hard to see what's what in that shot.

PS You clearly didn't go to finishing school - didn't anyone ever tell you to keep your legs together???

Well there's not much to show in all honesty. As far as the tailgate goes it's just like a normal 500 now, RUI is just showing that you can remove the by diesel panel at the base of the rear screen.

P.S I agree with you, can't believe they allow these uncouth louts on here now :p

It was taken with my iPhone, my cameras are all in the studio I will try again after I have had some lunch with the wife.

Ah ok - I wondered if there was a difference to the panel - I suppose that would have been unlikely given the cost of tooling.

This IS Fiat you know ;) They didn't even bother to make any of the body panels on the Abarth different, only the bumpers. Bit halfarsed if you ask me. Part of the problem I had with the by diesel was the fact that the panel was stuck on rather than being recessed into the tailgate. Tooling costs and so on I can understand, but it still looks stuck on.......

Without dis'ing anyone's car, I agree, and the bits look rather plasticy too. Nice alloys though.

The wheels are nice yes. I'm not a fan of split rims or rims pretending to be split rims so I wouldn't have them myself but the mock wheel bolts fit in well with the design of the car and the stud bits on the bumper :) I do however think that the interior is VERY handsome indeed :)

When I sell the car I can put it back on, it should only take 1/2 and hour to do that.
I never liked the trim on the back of the car and think it looks far better without it.
