My dad is after a replacement for the family bus, so it would be a sin not to get a Fiat!

We have seen an old school 1997 Ulysse 2.0EL, the body work looks in decent condition, few supermarket scars but nothing major. Interior is in good condition, no rips or tears and all the buttons work

It has done 107k but comes with a full serivce history, he has yet to take it for a test drive yet

Is there anything that needs to be checked on them?, what are the 2.0 petrol engines like?, does it go well? , the main reason the we are getting rid of the current bus is that it has no go, so getting away from junctions is a nightmare

Thanks

How does the Ulysse compare to the Multipla? Apart from not looking as cool (y)

I had two Mk1s a 1.9 and a 2.0 diesel, they both went ok but a bit slow from standstill, the petrol one should be ok though.

No major problems at all with the first one, although the little flip down key pad for the alarm stopped working when all the wires eventually fatigued and snapped with the constant flipping it up and down (don't know when they stopped fitting these - wasn't one on my second one)

The second one had a major problem when the timing chain snapped, the car was only 2 years old so was probably a freak failure, but I then had several problems with some plastic sensors failing, causing loss of power, this may be applicable to diesels only.

I must of been satisfied because I am on my third one now, great for going to France / Holland/ Italy / Switzerland for holidays! roof box on the top, and the three teenagers could rattle around in the car with plenty of space.

Hi, thinking of changing our R '98 1.9TD soon, having had it for 3 years, relatively trouble free (until now!)

We regularly have to check front tyre wear (especially on the inside of the tyre). And the front tracking arms appears to be a common (but inexpensive) problem that affects steering (obviously)!

Not got any experience of the petrol version, but always been a die-hard diesel buyer, and we find the 1.9 td is lively enough (if a little noisy sometimes).

Good luck!
