Hi there, I'm thinking of buying a 2006 model but it has 132,000 on the clock! Having come from Japanese cars I just didn't want to make a bad choice on a newish car? Apparently it had the cambelt changed at 70k. But think it still has original turbo. I was thinking of checking it out tomorrow. The engine is quiet and runs smooth and gear box seems fine, so I have been told. Any other issues I should ask about and is there anyone here with similar mileage on their cars? How do the run etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

don't worrie about high millage, if its been frequenty serviced and not had somebody flooring it in 6th (oviously there is no way of checking this :( )
check the rear callipers make sure they are not sticking and I'd also be looking at condition of the exhaust for its age.

ps. it will be due another timing belt soon.

Ok thanks! Yeah it has got 5 stamps of service history, and last service was on Aug 2013. Just never brought a high mileage diesel. But always been told they are still good at the kind of mileage. I stuck to lowish mileage Jap cars before. But mine was an import and petrol, so expensive to run. Hense going for a GP diesel.

When will the cambelt need to be done again? Also is it fairly cheap to maintain a GP with parts etc?

I have so read that the 2006 models had to be recalled by Fiat? How can I check this has been done?

Cheers

You can check the recall list on the top of this forum (gives you the various recall codes)

It should be stamped in the service book if any recall work has been carried out. Mine has had two recalls done by the dealer, the section to find this in is further on from the service history bit in the service book
