Hello everyone! 1st post here so go easy hah :p
I think i am going to buy a Fiat Punto 97 SX from a friend. It has 44k miles on the clock and was a category C write off, however it was just some panel damage and his dad being in the car industry had it all fixed for about £20 ish, also its just had a new exhaust. Sorry if im rambling on but just thought some background knowledge might help. So is there something i should be looking out for on the car? Apart from that seems an awesome motor! Thanks in advance for any input! :worship:

I asked about the belt and he has not had it done recently, didnt check the floor but will get onto it. Thanks! (y)

Thankyou very much ^_^
He wants £500 for it. I forget to mention it needs a service and due to the cambelt issue, i rekon it could be brought down. What do you think?
Thanks again!

well just so you know, i sold a 1997 punto sporting 16v with 1 years mot, new cambelt, clutch and serviced with genuine fiat abarth kit & tinted windows for £600.

so to me- that is WAY over the top.

im sure the buyer was delighted i know i would of been :p
how much do you think is a reasonable offer then?

Yeah but boo...we are talking one of your cars there  :ROFLMAO: :p

And for low mileage it wouldn't be too bad...had it not had previous crash damage and needing a belt.

And bearing in mind its a mate, I would try to get at least £100 knocked off...and tbh £400 is not a lot of cash.

Thanks both for the help will defo keep it all in mind if i am to make an offer! :D

I know you asked if there were any common faults etc. But tbh its just run of the mill stuff, sort of thing you would normally check when buying a used car.

But in reality, they are lil work horses that just keep going (y)

And if you go ahead and buy it, you get the added bonus of having the best car forum around to go on, with the nicest people to chat too (y) :D

Ok thats fair enough but at least i can sleep a little easier at night now :D
As for ur last comment, i cant see myself buying any other car now haha :p Thx again for the friendly help ;)(y)
