Hello, new to the forum - but nice to see a good quality Fiat forum has finally come together.
I am a veteran of two 500s - both 'F's, and I am now on the hunt for another some 10 years after owning my first. I have found what appears to be a very good 1959/60 'N', but I might be a 'D'... Are all cars with sunroofs that stop at the pillars 'D's?
Anyway, in the course of reading back over my old books and mag' articles it seems that Fiat made some serious improvements over the 10-12 years from the N & D to the F which is what I am used to. My question here is ultimately - is an early car a good idea?!
This will be a car driven sparingly and not under load or in traffic. First thing I noticed when I drove the early car was the smaller windscreen, but other wise it still had the same charm and feel as the later cars. Performance seemed much of a muchness, and I think it needs (surprise, surprise...) a kingpin pr two.
Price seems good vs rarity and condition and only a little bad repair work on the front panel detracts.
Should I buy it, or am I going to wish that i'd held out for a more robust, later car?
