Hi Guys,

Newbie to this site and also a newbie to Fiats.

My laddie is about to purchase a Fiat Punto 60sx from a good friend (who is a Fiat Nut).
The Punto is a 99 (which I think is a Mk1) has 57000 miles on her with full service history and only one owner.
She is black in colour but the bumpers are not the colour coded numbers.
I have painted various bits of cars in the past and wonder is it poss to paint these.

  1. is it possible?
  2. I would need need heat in my garage to obtian optimum spary cons what temps?
  3. What type of primer and paint would I need to obtain a great finish?
  4. I would also like to insert a colour where the bumper inserts are, what would be the best way to obtain this result?
Ta, in advance

Yes it is possible depending on the condition of the bumpers, the temperature would have to be around room temp I think. At these temps at the moment wouldnt be great as it would crack the paint as its drying and it wouldnt last long. Primer I would go for a strong one, because these bumpers will face temp change and stone chips. Paint would be the same, if your wanting the same finish as the car then I would get the paint code from the car and get a match. To be honest I would recommend taking it to a body shop were they will have the proper ovens for large parts like bumpers. If you gave them the car they could match it to the body work. Black is easy to match, not like bright colours like mine, trust me, ive gone through this! Usually the code is either on the door pillar, bonnet lid (by the catch) or in handbook. Hope this kinda helps. Lee

P.S Welcome to the Fiat Forum (y)
