Hello none of you have met me before or have heard of me replying or that. But I have been reading the forum for ages. One question though has anyone else got bucket seats in theirs. I have Corbeau Carrera Recliners and have done so for a while.
The ony thing is though no matter how much I play about with the seats there is still only a maximum of two holes out of the four that match up. It is the proper subframes that were supplied for them. It just doesnt match up that well. Has anyone else had this problem

I've had this problem on other cars. I've had to drill the floor, and put in 3mm plates either side of the hole to stop the bolts pulling through the floor. Be careful when drilling: there's fuel and brake lines and all sorts of things under car floors!

It's quite important to make sure the seat is properly mounted: if it moves, you won't be able to feel what the car is doing, and it's also dangerous in an accident.

Re: Re: Bucket Seats

but will this not mean that the bolts wont fit into the nuts that are in the floors
It is too much hassle for me to buy again all that bother for £600

Re: Re: Re: Bucket Seats

i have the same seats in myne and i just about managed to get 3 to line up [with some gentle persuasion!]

but when i get a chance im gonna drill out the hole in myne as well so all 4 line up

Re: Re: Re: Re: Bucket Seats

Dave, if you can't be bothered to drill two holes, I suggest you get someone to put your standard seats back in and forget about fitting different parts to your car.

It's not safe if the seats aren't secured correctly. It could have very serious repurcussions in even a minor accident.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bucket Seats

Cheers for the help but the car needed something different as the full body is done. I wanted the seats since they looked smart but I will now have to fanny around with the stupid things again. Not only that but my car is in foe a service today and I am unsure about what will be needing done. Cheers anyway guys but the subframes are just very badly designed

MOT

It will fail the MOT if the seats are not properly secured.
A garage would charge no more than £50 to sort it, or just an hour of your own time.

Re: MOT

if you get a garage to do it dont pay any more than £20!

guess what iv ordered two new seats because that carerra i had was crap, it had a big rip along the black leathery type bit, phoned corbau yesterday and guess what?

they do NOT do a subframe for a bravo, apparently!!!
so i told them they sold me one a month ago and it actually had a tag on it saying bravo!!! so now iv got to measure it and theyll see what they can do :eek:/

Cobra

I've been looking at some Cobra seats, and i'm sure i read somewhere if the subframe doesnt fir perfectly or they dont mass produce one for your car they will custom make you one or something?

Re: Cobra

Yeah Allan I think you're right m8. I'm pretty sure I read that they do custon subframe for any car too.

I am also looking at the many different buckets available on the market at the mo.

I'm not sure weather to go for Cobra Evolutions, Sidewinders of Imolas?

What do you reckon guys? Which look the best in your opinion?

re

i have been looking at the Sparco Evo, which are fixed, or at Cobra opus, or the redesigned Cobra Daytona? has anyone got prices for sending door cards and rear seats away for cobra to retrim them to match?

Re: re

they dont do a custom frame. but they do a universal fitting thing which converts the original bravo frame

my problem being iv already sold my bravo seat [

iv got sidewinders by the way so should have some pics up in a week or two.

i had to choose between cobra and corbau but if i could choose any seat whatsoever i would have gone for sparco 'street fighters', nice.

re

Cobra, and Sparco, definately make a subframe for the brav/a, and they gaurantee it is of factory fit quality. I think the scam of it is that you have to go to the cobra factory for them to make the custom subframe, but as they make one theres no need to discuss that!

I put Cobra Clubmans in my old car using strips of steel bent and cut to just make spacers between seat and the floor! and that went through 3 motss when i had it. at 2 different MOT places. although it did look a bit rough

Re: re

cant you reuse your old subframes from the original seats? i've seen it done in other makers of cars.

Re: Re: re

I had the same problem aswell when I bought the seats in the first place. I bought the seats from Ripspeed since they were the cheapest and they phoned corbeau to get the subframes and they said that they dont stock them. But I went home and phoned Demon Tweeks and they sent them out the next couple of days for me. By the way did anybody else get spacers with there carrera seats as i got enough for one seat. Then when I went back to Ripspeed to get another set they said that I shouldn't had got them in the first place but sent more out anyway
